I really enjoyed reading this book! So many opportunities for teaching here - such as having the lower students look for examples of being green in the pictures, and having higher students write a list of examples. For English Language Learners who are older, this would be a great book to use in the kickoff of service/learning projects. Very nice touch with the facts in the back, too. I especially appreciate the point that one way kids can be green is by (politely) reminding their parents to be green. I believe that kids need to be taught leadership skills early on, and that even though they may not have the power to make decisions, they do have the power to influence others in a positive way. I believe that this is the sort of message that encourages kids to be engaged readers - by reading to learn ways that they can help make the world a better place. The illustration of the hand-me-downs (and the other illustrations) are wonderful. Great book - thank you for posting!
