"Before time was and earth took form" the fairies knew her, a little princess named Julia who is finally born into a magical land peopled by fairies. She grows into a beautiful, warm, and playful girl but much to the dismay of her loving parents she is befriended by these fairies and lured away by "their singing, their dancing, their magical way of looking at life full of wonder and awe." The king and the queen are saddened by her frequent absences but finally realize that "our Julia, dear Julia, is not ours to own, but ours to behold, to belove, and let grow."
